Springtime in Colorado can be incredibly variable. Rain, lightning, high winds, sunshine and even snow will all be making an appearance here in Colorado for the month of April, and likely beyond. Typically, though, even if an afternoon thundershower rolls through, it only lasts a few minutes. This is why locals say “if you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes!” In order to be able to survive these unpredictable elements, it is best to know how one should prepare for these variable conditions. So, in case you’ve already booked your April ziplining trip or are planning to, here are some tips on how to dress for April ziplining.
With the uncertainty of April weather in Colorado, perhaps the most important factor to stay on top of is your warmth factor. The easiest and most efficient way to deal with variability in the weather is to dress in layers. An example of this would be having on base layers or some yoga pants, followed by a pair of pants and a long sleeve shirt. If necessary, you may add a light to medium layer, such as a sweatshirt, to your outfit. Dressing in layers allows you to remove or add layers as needed.
Wet
Besides being warm, it is imperative to stay dry. Keeping your clothes and consequently, body, dry will allow for peak performance of your body and any technical clothing you may be wearing. A rain jacket and maybe even some rain pants are perfectly fine to bring along with you, in the event of rain, however, a poncho will even be sufficient to help keep you dry.
Walking
Footwear is perhaps the most important factor to your zipline tour, regardless of when or where your trip is going to be taking place. Proper footwear includes hiking shoes, tennis shoes, hiking or light hiking boots, and even some types of sport sandals (closed toe only). Improper footwear would include any open toed sandal or footwear without adequate tread/traction. Wearing appropriate footwear and socks will ensure that you’ll be properly supported underfoot and kept warm.
