Everyone loves day trips, but what about during the winter? Outdoor options are not always out of the question, but for the most part you want to be warm indoors.
If you are going to be inside, then why not do it at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater. Thirty minutes west of Denver is a place that has hosted some of the greatest performers of all time. Red Rocks is home to the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. Exhibits showcase memorabilia and kiosks will profile each inductee with bios, photos, audio and video. The dynamic new environment is designed for thousands of visitors before and after concerts. Here they can learn about Colorado’s amazing and diverse musical legacy.
Only an hour and a half drive from Denver, The Fraser Tubing Hill provides great family fun this winter season. The locally owned and operated tubing hot spot has tubes for rent and food for sale. Children as young as 3 can tube with a parent and by the age of 7 children are allowed to ride alone. Doesn’t matter if you pick the 60 minute rental or 90 minute, it’s great fun for both adults and kids. Tubing down a hill and getting to yell in excitement is what this place is all about!
When you think about Evergreen Park, ice skating and ice hockey probably don’t come to mind. Well think again! Evergreen Park has the world’s largest Zamboni-groomed outdoor ice rink. Think I’m kidding? Try a stunning 8.5-acre stretch of ice including 11 pond hockey rinks and a huge public skating rink. The icing on this cake is its location, just a half hour from downtown Denver!
Come ride The Polar Express! Made popular by the book and movie, the Colorado Railroad Museum brings this all-time favorite story of self-discovery and happiness to life. This children’s tale is one for all ages. Enjoy sights and sounds and even some dancing from the awesome performers. This train ride comes with Golden Tickets and of course HOT CHOCOLATE!!
