Located in the Arkansas River Valley is the small town of Buena Vista, CO. The town was found in 1864 by settlers who were drawn to the area by the large amounts of water that made the area perfect for agriculture. Buena Vista is located in central Colorado and lies roughly midway between Salida and Leadville. At an elevation of 7,965 feet the town receives plenty of sunshine and higher temperatures compared to the rest of Colorado. This area is great for hiking, biking, rafting, rock climbing, and other outdoor activities. This small town has plenty of restaurant options to get that hearty meal after that long hike or day of rafting. Here is a list of some of the best restaurants in Buena Vista!
In the high Rockies it can sometimes be difficult to find quality Asian food, however, The Asian Palate, located on Main Street in Buena Vista, is a great spot to get your fix. The team of chefs prepare authentic Japanese food and the sushi is always fresh. The service is great and very quick as well. I would recommend making a reservation as this spot tends to book up.
Another great option in Buena Vista is K’s Dairy Delite. If you’re looking for something simple and quick, this old school hamburger joint is the perfect spot. The line is pretty long in the summer but the staff is very quick and the wait is short. When they call your order be sure to check your receipt as everyone receives the name of a celebrity for their order. This is a great place to get some ice cream or a shake after a warm day spent rafting on the Arkansas River!
If you’re a fan of micro-brews, Eddyline Brewery has a great selection of amazing beers on tap. They offer two locations in Buena Vista, their brewery and taproom (that also serves food) and a restaurant. If you’re a fan of IPA’s be sure to try the Crankyanker! This is a perfect stop to have a few drinks with friends and enjoy some great comfort food.
