Find Your Perfect Adventure

Our 3 Favorite Idaho Springs Restaurants

Idaho Springs Colorado

The little town of Idaho Springs, perched at 7,520 feet, has a lot more going for it than one would perceive with a quick glance from I-70. Being home to the start of the Colorado Gold Rush is the main claim to fame here, as one may notice by the large “Gold Diggers” emblazoned on the high school. Perhaps your family is headed up to the mountains for a weekend ski and snowboard adventure or you and your sweetheart are headed for a romantic getaway at one of Summit Counties cozy Bed & Breakfasts. Whatever the reason, a quick stop in Idaho Springs for an afternoon snack will add a dimension to your trip that is otherwise unattainable. To help you in finding a place to eat, here are our 3 favorite Idaho Springs restaurants, in case you need a break from driving.

tommyknocker insideTommyKnocker Brewery and Pub

A long time Idaho Springs staple and partner with us (Zip ‘n Sip Trip), TommyKnocker Brewery is favorite to many who call Colorado their home. Offering over twenty craft brews and a nice variety of fare and homemade sodas, there is ample room at the bar for filling your belly with delicious goodies. Bring the kids along and have a tasty family meal in the dining room as towering copper beer kettles serve as your backdrop.

Smokin’ Yardsfilename-336-jpg-thumbnail0

Also a partner with us, Smokin’ Yards has been the go-to for BBQ lovers passing through the area. For our river trips with the rafting side of things, we use Smokin’ Yards as the on river lunch spot. Located right in the downtown area of Idaho Springs, this restaurant is easy to get to and if the weather is nice, an outdoor patio  that overlooks Clear Creek and some old mines, as well.

beaujosBeau Jo’s

This famous restaurant has been a legendary hangout among pizza lovers since 1973. Offering perhaps, too many food options like sandwiches, salads and calzones, the main deal is their deliciouso pizza! This is seen in their motto, “Great tasting pizza can be as healthy as you need or want it to be.” With so many options, it is no wonder that families and groups of all ages and sizes choose Beau Jo’s as their lunch spot, on their way up to the mountains.
